We are seeking highly motivated candidates for an NIH-funded postdoctoral position available immediately! Current projects include investigation of molecular mechanisms of protein aggregation, amyloid formation, and phase separation of intrinsically disordered proteins. The lab uses a multifaceted approach that integrates advanced biomolecular solution- and solid-state NMR spectroscopy, real-time AFM, and other biophysical techniques with molecular biology, cellular assays, and computational methods. This allows us to probe key interactions and dynamics across a range of spatial dimensions, from the atomic level to the nanoscale. Further details can be found in Research. Facilities include the Rutgers High Field NMR Facility, which houses four high field NMR spectrometers with state-of-the-art capabilities for solution and solid-state NMR applications.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in biomolecular NMR and other biophysical techniques and should have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The Baum lab is highly interdisciplinary with collaborators with expertise in computational chemistry, protein design, and small molecule therapeutics.
• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biophysics, Structural Biology, or other related scientific discipline.
• An excellent record of publication.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Demonstrated experience in biomolecular NMR.
• Proficiency in recombinant protein expression and purification from E. coli and isotopic (15N, 13C, 2H) enrichment of proteins.

The NMR facility, housed in the Center for Integrated Proteomics, is a newly upgraded state-of-the art facility with both solution and solid state capabilities. The NMR facility includes a newly upgraded Bruker AVANCE HD 800 MHz with 5 mm cryoprobe and 0.7 mm HCND fast-MAS probe, an AVANCE III 700 MHz with 5 mm cryoprobe, and two 600 MHz with solution and solid state capabilities- AVANCE III and AVANCE HD with 1.6mm HXYD MAS probe.
