
Jean Baum, a professor of chemistry and chemical biology, and former SAS vice dean of the Office of Research and Graduate Education, played a major role in the new Platforms for Education and Research Cores (PERC) program designed to expand research opportunities at the university. "We envision PERCs to be critical components for . . . increasing research experiences for a diverse student population as well as spurring community and alumni engagement," said Baum, who championed the project during her term as vice provost for life sciences research and partnerships.
