Fuguo Jiang, a graduate student at Rutgers’ Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine (CABM) and the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology (CCB) has won a $6,000 stipend for outstanding self-financed students abroad from the Chinese government. The award is given annually to students across all fields of study showing outstanding performance in their doctoral studies.
Fuguo's research involves important receptors in the human innate nervous system, and it might one day lead to a drug to boost the body’s ability to halt infection by pathogenic microorganisms such as hepatitis C and other viruses.
