Dickerson Subject: Albany workshop Dear colleagues, I have detected some minor typing errors in the draft I have sent to you. I made the corrections, but perhaps more important, I have also added an appendix where is shown, that the complex story of parameter definitions on the local level is contained in four sets of rather simple equations. I understand if some of you feel frustrated when, after many years of discussion, I put forward a new definition. Everybody however will agree that we need some extension of conventions to make things unique, and these should be easy to understand. >From my point of view, our decisions concern: (1) A convention on the sequential order of x- and y-rotations. (I suppose that everybody agrees on the z-rotation which should be the first one.) (2) A convention on the definition of mean frames yielding symmetric basepair step parameters. (3) A convention on the definition of basepair mean frames, to be used for calculation of local basepair step parameters (including the definition of intra-basepair parameters). Thank you very much for your efforts to evaluate my suggestions in the light of other definitions. With best regards, Heinz Sklenar [ Part 2, Application/MSWORD 128KB. ] [ Unable to print this part. ]
